What is the run route?
Tristar competitors will run on the playing fields surrounding the Leisure Centre
Adult and Youths will run on pavements in the local area.
Most competitors will run multiple laps of their course. Please note that it is the competitor's responsibility to ensure they run the correct distance.
An aerial view of the run courses can be viewed here.
Will I be too Slow?
No one is too slow to compete in an aquathlon. We can’t all win and the idea is to take part and have fun. In the swim you will be grouped with people of a similar speed. Slower swimmers start first. However slow you are going, you won’t get in anyone’s way.
what should i wear?
Experienced triathletes will wear a tri suit throughout the whole race with their number attached to an elasticated belt however, if this is your first race, there is no need to buy any special clothing. The simplest option is to wear your normal swimming costume then put on a T-shirt (and maybe shorts) in transition to which you can attach your race number.
Whatever you choose to wear you mustn't show any skin on your torso (except in the swim) and your number must be visible at all times.
For more details the please read the British Triathlon Competition Rules.
what do i do in transition?
Your time in transition is part of your race time so the idea is to get through as quickly as possible, however you are free to take as much time as you want and to put on as many clothes as you need to feel comfortable.
There are many things you can do to speed up your time in transition. If you're new to triathlon maybe take some time to watch the more experienced competitors and perhaps get some time saving ideas for the future.
For more information on what you can and cannot do in transition see the British Triathlon Competition Rules.
when will i get my start time?
Start times will be sent to you by email a few days before the event. There will
also be a link posted on our Club Facebook page
how early do i need to register?
Arrange to arrive leaving enough time to register, put your things in transition and to be at the pool 10 minutes before your start time.
Registration opens at 7.45am and will stay open until everyone has registered.
can i help my child in transition?
Tristar competitors will be allowed one helper when setting up their kit in transition.
Officially no-one is allowed help in transition during the race however at Burntwood Aquathlon we make an exception for Tristar Start competitors (only) who will be allowed one helper.
Anyone receiving unauthorised help will be disqualified.
can i take photos?
Photography is prohibited inside the swimming pool.
Once competitors leave the pool photography is permitted but please read the attached British Triathlon Federation statement regarding Event photography and use of images.
when does the junior race start?
The juniors (Tristar) will race before the adults. The Tristar races will start at 0830.
The adult race start time will depend on the number of junior entries but is likely to be about 0930 to 1000.
Please note 'Youths' will race with the adults.
when will the results be published?
Results will be posted on the StuWeb website and will be available from soon after you cross the finish line.
I left my goggles/towel/swim hat in transition. What should I do?
A member of Lichfield and Burntwood Triathlon Club will remove all property that has been left after the race. Contact the Race organiser as soon as you have realised and they will put you in contact with the relevant person. We do not take anyresponsibility for the safe return of any items left.
